BAHAUSHIYA BOOK COMPELET
Chapter One (Babi-Daya)
Staff Quarters – A.B.U.
This neighborhood belonged to the university lecturers, particularly those who were not indigenous to the town. Here, Ahmadu Bello University provided accommodation for them to reside with their families; if they were single, the university still allotted them these quarters.
Block 13b was the house where Dr. A.A. Fika resided, and right beside it was Block 14b, where his colleague lived.
She was dressed in a brown hijab so long that it swept the ground, her face covered with a niqab (face veil), and she wore gloves on her hands. She was in such a desperate hurry she looked as though she might take flight. The moment she reached his door, she began knocking frantically, looking over her shoulder repeatedly out of fear that that infidel lecturer might spot her.
"Tchww," she hissed softly under her breath, muttering, "With his judgmental, brooding eyes, looking like..." Before she could finish her sentence, she was violently yanked inside the very house whose door she had been knocking on.
Startled, she looked at the man who had pulled her in, softened her expression pleadingly, and said:
"Dr. A.A., for God's sake, you frightened me!"
He smiled at her, sat down on the living room sofa, placed his feet on the center table, and fixed his eyes on the television screen in front of him. He turned up the volume, deliberately drawing her attention to the TV.
She glanced at it once and quickly looked away. Lowering her head, she was forced to listen to the loud moaning of a woman on the screen crying out:
"Ohhhh! Shiiiiii! Hmmm wowwww. OMG fck my pussy, Ohh my God, fck giigghhhhh Ashhhhh"
A malicious smile spread across his face. Displaying total indifference, he slowly stood up, walked over to where she stood, grabbed her hand, and pulled her down to sit beside him.
He bit his lip hard. For a moment, it seemed he wouldn't speak, but he had to. He took immense, insatiable pleasure in sleeping with her; out of all his young female conquests, she was the first whose virginity he had taken. All the other girls he crossed paths with at A.B.U. were just leftovers from other men! But as for her, he was the first to touch her, and he thoroughly enjoyed the natural purity God had blessed her with.
She possessed a unique anatomy; no matter how many times a man slept with her, the next time he returned, her passage would be tightly closed again, requiring him to reopen it with his finger.
He let out a deep sigh, caressed her face, and whispered:
"Husnah! You are so sweet. Any man who gets you... damn, he has hit the jackpot. That's why I keep telling you never to let any other man touch you, since I've already promised to marry you. Now, look at the style that white woman is doing on screen; that's exactly what I want you to do to me."
She looked at him intently and said:
"Dr., please do not wrong me! If you know you have no intention of marrying me, then leave me alone. This..."
I spoke to him in a soft, vulnerable voice.
He abruptly pinned me down and stripped off my hijab.
The sight of the boy shorts and half-vest I was wearing completely derailed his sanity. He swallowed hard in pure lust, then buried his head against my chest. His eyes could never tire of staring at my breasts.
He lifted his head calmly, let out a smirk from the corner of his mouth, and said:
"Husy! I am deeply obsessed with you, and I can do anything for your sake."
He uttered these words while sliding off my half-vest.
Staring deeply into my eyes, he gently caressed my skin while watching my face.
We stood up and headed toward the bedroom, him leading the way and me trailing behind like a hypocrite. I knew the true nature of Dr. Ahil Aliyu Maitama.
If I were to describe his looks, he was incredibly handsome—the ultimate, most sophisticated gentleman everyone talked about in the city of Kaduna.
Furthermore, he was an expert obstetrician/gynecologist and a senior lecturer at the College of Medicine. The only problem was that Dr. A.A. was an absolute, out-of-control womanizer. However, ever since he met me, he had stopped sleeping around.
The moment we entered the room, he dragged me to him. Without any gentle romance or a decent kiss, Dr. A.A. Maitama began to roughly scrub against me like dirty laundry.
It felt like a curse; I was completely powerless to stop him. I just stared at him, utterly helpless, as he subjected me to every single sexual position imaginable.
Only after nearly an hour did he finally let me go. He looked at me with deep satisfaction and said:
"Husy! Bring your project manuscript to my office tomorrow."
My eyes widened with pure delight, and I said:
"But I’ve been trying to give it to you since last week and you kept refusing, completely ignoring me!"
Caressing my breasts, he flashed another wicked smile and said:
"Don't worry about it. I'll review it for you since that infidel refused to look at it."
I nodded happily and said:
"Wow, thank you so much! 🤝"
I quickly got up, went into the bathroom, and took a shower. He just kept smirking until I came out.
As I dried myself off, he locked his seductive eyes onto me, melting with an overwhelming surge of lust.
He stood up, walked right over to me, and said:
"Husy, I haven't had enough of you! I'm not satisfied yet. Please, I need more."
As he said this, he began licking his way up my neck to my back. I pushed him away slightly, feeling worried, and said:
"You know the strict nature of that infidel friend of yours better than anyone. If I dare let him enter the lecture hall before me, I will be locked out of his class. You're going to get me into trouble. When exactly are you going to send your family representatives to my house?!"
He let out a deep sigh, but continued to trail his lips down my back while fondling my breasts. I pulled his hands away, stared into his eyes, and said:
"For God's sake, stop! I swear Dr. Bature will expel me from his class."
He smiled and let me go so I could get dressed. He then escorted me to his front door. Just as I was attempting to pull the door open, he was simultaneously trying to push it shut; as a result, he accidentally smashed his car keys right into my forehead. It was a terrible mistake, and the impact immediately split my skin open.
I clutched my head, crying out: "Innalillahi wa'inna ilaihi rajioun (Surely to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return)."
True to his usual cold demeanor—the very reason students nicknamed him Mr. Arrogant—he reacted sharply.
"Ahil!?"
Dr. Ahil rushed outside. Seeing me standing there clutching my bleeding forehead, he snapped:
"What kind of foolishness possessed you to go and crack your own forehead open?"
I lifted my head, weeping bitterly, and said:
"He is the one who smashed his car keys into my head!"
Ahil turned to look at Mr. Arrogant—or rather, Dr. Bature.
"For God's sake, look at what you've done!"
But the way Dr. Bature raised his head and locked his piercing eyes onto Dr. Ahil made the words die instantly in Ahil's throat.
"Husy! Go on, I'll be right behind you."
Hot, painful tears streamed down my face. I turned around in a blind rage and fled the staff quarters.
"But Dr. BYC, that was incredibly wrong of you! How could you split her—"
Dr. Bature cut Dr. Ahil off with a devastating, chilling glare and said:
"The Holy Scripture, the Book of Matthew! Chapter one, verse twenty-three says: 'Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel' (which translates to, God is with us). Now look at that, see? If you dare argue with me, I can cite several other chapters after Matthew! Good heavens, Dr. Ahil, you have completely ruined this people's daughter. You know how much her parents trusted her and allowed her to come to this University? You will deeply regret the day the Lord brings a savior into her life. Jesus, prepare us for the path to see the Lord! Furthermore, even in your own Quran, in Surah An-Nur, verse twenty-six, look at what your Lord says regarding men and women who commit fornication:
'Corrupt women are for corrupt men, and corrupt men are for corrupt women; and good women are for good men, and good men are for good women. These are innocent of what they say; for them is forgiveness and a bountiful provision.'
How will you feel when a worthless woman is eventually brought to you as a wife? Don't forget, she too will be coming from another man's house! Why, Ahil? Don't you ever look at your own future? Don't you ever think that tomorrow someone will do to your family exactly what you are doing to her? How many young girls have you destroyed in this institution just because you have a powerful support group and political backing? Just because your father leads the political affairs of this country? I swear to you by the very gravity of your own oaths, the Almighty is furious with you, and mark my words, a day will come when you will weep bitterly."
"Hey, hey! Slow your roll! The girl threw herself at me, I didn't drag her here. And as for your dark prophecies, what do I care? This is my golden era. When I am done playing the field, even if it takes a thousand girls, I will marry them and ensure they are absolute virgins. So if you're so angry on her behalf, tell her to stop bringing herself to my office tomorrow!"
The moment he finished his outburst, Ahil slammed the door shut in his face with a loud hiss.
Left with no choice, Dr. Bature Yohana Chibok turned on his heel and left the doorway, heading toward the faculty. I spotted him from a distance as I stood with Fatimah Adamu and her group. I quickly excused myself from my friends and rushed toward the lecture hall. He and I arrived at the entrance simultaneously, nearly colliding into each other. He stared down at me, his chest heaving with boiling rage.
"Out!" he barked, pointing his finger away from the classroom.
I twisted my mouth in defiance, let out a sharp hiss right in his face, and walked away, muttering bitterly to myself:
"Useless infidel! Empty pagan! A man whose heart is entirely consumed by disbelief!"
He shook his head in deep sorrow and offense at the fact that a student had just hissed at him so disrespectfully.
I walked far to the back of the campus, found a secluded spot, and sat down, hissing repeatedly under my breath. I watched the sky darken with gathering storm clouds, and a sudden, painful wave of homesickness washed over me. I wished desperately that I was back home among my family.
Oh, my sweet mother... If I were back home right now, she would have prepared a warm dish of faten tsaki (broken maize porridge) mixed with raw groundnuts, spiced heavily with rama leaves, sorrel, and spinach!
Tears welled up in my eyes. They had sent me here strictly to acquire a Western education. Yes, Alhamdulillah, for five long years I did everything right; I never crossed the line of decency—until this very year, when I fell blindly in love with Dr. Ahil Aliyu Maitama.
I let out a heavy sigh, my eyes overflowing with tears as I realized how carelessly I had squandered my virtue and my boundaries.
My parents had practically alienated themselves from our entire extended family just so I could get a university degree. Despite the intense backlash and mockery my father faced from our villagers, he packed up our lives and left the village with us.
Ever since the death of our beloved grandmother (Yadiko), my father had made a solemn vow that his daughter would achieve a high-level Western education, so she could return and become a guiding light—a literal beacon of hope—for the people of Narabi village.
He built my entire upbringing upon this dream, praying that I would become the full moon that illuminates the dark world for the people of Narabi.
But alas...
My coming to A.B.U. had yielded nothing but trauma, psychological ruin, and a bitter regret that I couldn't yet see, but knew with absolute certainty would crush me in the future.
"Husnah HABIB Manga!"
I snapped out of my thoughts and stood up as I heard that foolish class rep shouting my name at the top of his lungs, his voice grating on my nerves like the worst of pagans. I glared at him in irritation and snapped:
"What do you want, Moses?!"
He hissed and replied, "Come over here and sign the attendance sheet, stop acting like a snob!"
I walked over, signed my name against the register, and slunk back to my seat... I sat there until the campus closed for the day, drowning in the bitter realization that I had just missed the critical Anatomy lecture hosted by Mr. Arrogant.
Back in my room, I lay on the bed, but my heart was miles away at home. I closed my eyes, pulled out my phone, and dialed my mother's number.
"Luluh!" a tiny voice answered softly.
"Aww! It's me, I'm the one who picked up Addah Husnah's call today!"
Filled with sudden joy, a smile broke across my face, and I chatted happily with my little sister before she handed the phone over to my mother.
I smiled warmly and said, "My mother?!"
"Yes, my dearest eldest daughter!"
"Oh, Inna! Even you are teasing me?"
"Of course! Just yesterday I visited Narabi village and everyone was asking about you! They wanted to know if you've finished that big Western education we sent you to get?"
"Hmm! I have just two weeks left to finish completely, Insha Allah! I will graduate with excellent results, Insha Allah, and I will become a sun whose light will never fade for them!"
"Alhamdulillah! Keep your focus and study hard! Allah is always with you! Insha Allah, you will become their ultimate champion. May Allah bless you, and please protect your honor, your dignity, and your worth."
I found myself utterly unable to respond. I abruptly hung up the phone and burst into a violent, uncontrollable sob. I had completely betrayed the sacred trust of my parents... Despite all their struggles, sacrifices, and the sweat they poured out for my sake, today I had severely violated their confidence.
I was still weeping uncontrollably when Fatimah walked into the room. She held me close, offering comfort until my tears finally subsided.
After we performed our night (Isha) prayers, she stared at me intently, clearly wanting to break some news to me but lacking the courage to speak.
"Teemah, is there a problem?!" I asked her directly.
"Hmm! I don't know how you're going to take this, but it is the absolute, unvarnished truth."
Anxious, I locked my eyes onto her and whispered, "Hmm! Speak."
"Do you know... that today is Dr. Ahil Aliyu Maitama’s wedding introduction and pre-wedding celebrations (kamu)!!!!!!!!"
Chapter Two (Babi-Biyu)
Unexpected
I violently grabbed the collar of her shirt in a state of sheer panic, confusion, and psychological shock, screaming:
"Just because you hate seeing me with him, you decide to fabricate this ridiculous, baseline lie?! What did I ever do to you, Fatimah? Are you really this miserable and jealous of my happiness?!"
She firmly pried my hands off her collar.
"Get a grip and snap out of it! I swear by Allah I didn't tell you this to hurt you! I am telling you this to expose the massive web of deception they've wrapped around you! Husnah HABIB, what on earth do I have to be jealous of you for? Husy! Wake up! Wake up from this deep slumber you are in! Right this very second, Dr. Ahil Aliyu Maitama is actively celebrating among a lineup of grooms!"
The moment the words lineup of grooms pierced my ears, my brain short-circuited. I completely lost consciousness, blacking out entirely until the call for dawn (Fajr) prayer woke me up.
I sat up on the bed. I looked over at her as she sat performing her morning supplications (azkar), and a profound sense of shame washed over me. In a mere six months of being with Ahil, I had become so spiritually decayed that I didn't even wake up for dawn prayers until the sun was fully up.
I sat there and broke down into a deep, agonizing weep. I had terribly wronged my parents; I had thrown away the pristine upbringing they gave me, and I had carelessly discarded my own self-worth. Tears flowed down my cheeks like a river.
I stood up, performed my ablutions, returned to the room, and observed my missed prayer. As I sat on the mat, knowing we had a Friday class ahead, I kept weeping out of pure hatred and heartbreak over what Dr. A.A. had done to me. I got dressed in a hurry, grabbed my hijab, and stepped out into a morning where dark storm clouds were heavily gathering.
Ester, a Christian classmate of ours, looked at me cheerfully and said:
"Hey, our Superb student! You're heading to class early today? Did you forget that Mr. Arrogant is the one taking today's lecture?"
I forced a tiny, hollow smile to mask my internal devastation, glanced at her briefly, and said:
"No, my choice of Superb, you are the one who is deeply obsessed with Dr. Bature Yohana Chibok! As for me, even if they paved a path of gold toward him, I would run as fast as my legs could carry me in the opposite direction."
"Oh, bless you, Husy! I'm sorry, but do you actually know who Dr. Bature Yohana Chibok is? His father is a highly revered head Pastor at the Christian Centre of God church."
Irritated, I cut her off sharply:
"Shut up! Why on earth are you giving me his family history? What do you take us for? Do you think we Muslims don't know what is right or wrong? His religion is his own business, but never forget: to me belongs my religion, and to you belongs yours!"
Sensing that I was clearly not in the right headspace and was ready to fight, she dropped the topic and walked ahead. I retraced my steps back to the hostel to grab my project files, and also because I desperately wanted to verify the horrific news Teemah had broken to me.
Just as I hurried toward the entrance, I overheard Teemah’s voice echoing from inside the room, arguing loudly with our roommates:
"For God's sake, fear Allah! What do you stand to gain by constantly gossiping about her? Why can't we just mind our business? I swear by Allah, Husnah has absolutely no time for your petty drama because she's entirely focused on her future. Do you know why God blesses her with favor? It's because she has never harbored any desire to hurt or exploit anyone! That's why whatever academic goal she sets her mind to, she crushes it without sweat. She is brilliant, yes! Every single time I wonder how she maintains a perfect Grade Point Average, I realize Husnah has never skipped a single lecture, Husnah has never—"
"Oh, spare us the sermon, Miss Lecturer! Shut up. The only reason she gets those top scores is because she submits her body to the lecturers, they are the ones who—"
"Hey, watch your mouth, Nanah! Have you ever caught her red-handed with your own eyes?!"
Nanah sneered maliciously and replied, "How many times do I need to see it? The guy who used her and drained her of all her sweetness is literally getting married to a fresh, brand-new virgin bride as we speak!"
"It appears you are dealing with absolute fools today, Teemah!" I said aloud as I stepped into the room, my breathing heavy and shallow from the crushing weight of Nanah's cruel words.
"Hmm! My heart, just ignore them," Teemah said gently. "I swear, judgment awaits everyone in the hereafter."
I let out a bitter, exhausted smile, grabbed my project documents, and walked out just as the rain began to pour down heavily.
I quickly ran up to the faculty corridor, but even there, I found no refuge. The moment I walked past a group of students, they burst into a loud, mocking laughter behind my back. I swallowed my tears, clamped my mouth shut, and kept walking, my entire body and legs shaking violently.
I reached Dr. Ahil Aliyu Maitama's office and pushed the door open slowly.
He was sitting comfortably, his face glowing with a smug radiance—the look of a man on the verge of marrying into high society.
A wave of intense, suffocating grief hit me; I felt as though my chest was going to physically explode. I tightly crossed my arms over my chest.
He lifted his head, locked his eyes onto me, and then, with the practiced coldness of a seasoned manipulator, he looked away, let out a smirk, and said:
"Sit down."
I shook my head, tears streaming down my face, and wept:
"Why?! What did I ever do to you that was so terrible that you chose to completely destroy my life?! To the best of my knowledge, I have never wronged you. Why did you deceive me so cruelly?!"
"Shhh! Get the hell out of my office before I have you publicly humiliated and thrown out! I swear to God, if you dare utter my name out there, I will personally destroy your academic transcripts and ruin your degree!"
My jaw dropped in sheer horror. Staring at him in utter disbelief, I whispered:
"Is this really how you repay what you did to me?!"
"I said get out!" he roared, slamming his hand down.
I refused to move. I stood my ground and stared deep into his soulless eyes. I took my project files and threw them onto his desk. Before I could even turn around, he snatched the papers and violently hurled them right back into my face.
"You've gone out and finished your rounds of cheap prostitution, and now you have the audacity to come here and claim I must accept your files?!"
"Listen to me, Dr. Ahil, I am not the least bit afraid of you! I only tolerated your nonsense before because of love. If you think you can abuse and exploit me and walk away free, I swear Allah will avenge me! Just as sure as you know my tears are real, God will strip you of your peace. You will weep a cry far more agonizing than mine! Dr. Ahil, I am a woman, and I won't wish for the evil you did to me to fall upon your future daughters, but God will personally exact my vengeance. You evil, tyrannical, adulterous monster!"
Infuriated, he leaped over his desk, grabbed me roughly by the arm, and violently shoved me out of his office. I collapsed hard onto the wet concrete outside, right in the pouring rain, in full view of a crowd of students.
To make matters worse, Dr. Bature Yohana Chibok was walking up the corridor, intending to enter the office, and caught the entire scandalous scene.
He stopped in his tracks, pulled out his phone, and calmly began typing.
I lifted my voice, screaming through the rain:
"I swear to Allah you will never get away with destroying another woman's life! You will eat this filth out of your own bowl, and you will live to regret this, you corrupt, ungodly fornicator! May Allah judge you!"
Blinded by pure rage, Ahil rushed out, kicking me viciously with his boots and raining heavy insults down on me.
A few male students quickly rushed to the scene and pulled him off my battered body.
He adjusted his designer shirt, sneered, and retreated back into his office.
I struggled to stand, my vision blurring as I was about to faint. I never expected him to help me, but Dr. Bature stepped forward, caught me before I fell, and tossed his car keys to the surrounding students.
Supported by the students and Ester, they lifted me into his car and rushed me to the university clinic.
The moment the car left the scene, Dr. Bature walked straight back into Dr. Ahil’s office.
"Can you believe what that wretched girl just did to me?!" Ahil raged. "She actually tried to humiliate me within this institution!"
"I didn't come here to talk about that," Bature said calmly. "I saw that your wedding is this Saturday, and I need to travel to Abuja. What's the plan?"
"Cut the nonsense! Go to Abuja if you want. I'm telling you, I am going to make sure that girl is permanently expelled from this university! Let's see where her cheap arrogance gets her then."
"Fine. I'll see if I can make it to the wedding luncheon when I return."
As Dr. Bature turned to leave, Ahil called out:
"BYC! I am literally telling you about the absolute madness Husnah just pulled on me, and you're standing there saying absolutely nothing!"
Dr. Bature turned around slowly. "Did you listen to me when I warned you yesterday?! Who is at fault here? Who fired the first shot? Don't involve me in your self-inflicted disasters. But let me give you one solid piece of advice: stop beating women, unless you want to develop a habit that carries over to your own wife. Furthermore, everything Husnah did to you today? She is entirely blameless. You brought this entirely upon yourself; you ruined a young girl’s life and then abandoned her. Someone else's future wife! Someone's sister! Someone's daughter! There are only two days left until they bring a woman to your own house—how will you feel if she turns out to be a woman whom another man has thoroughly ruined?"
"Shut up! That will never happen to me!" Ahil yelled, his eyes widening in panic. "My bride is flawless, pure, honorable, and deeply dignified."
Dr. Bature let out a knowing smile. "In the Holy Scripture, the Proverbs of Solomon, chapter one, verse seven says: 'The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.' This means you will never comprehend the true weight of the life you have destroyed until time has entirely run out for you."
Ahil hissed loudly in annoyance. "You always think you're more knowledgeable than me just because you can quote verses from the Bible! Or do you simply know the girl better than I do? Oh, just admit it—you're in love with her! That's why you're always inserting yourself into her business."
Bature looked at him with utter seriousness. "Are you out of your mind? How can you even think that? I am a Christian, she is a Muslim. Do you take me for someone who treats his faith lightly? We do not cross those lines. Stop associating me with a woman who is outside the faith of Jesus Christ, unless you are actively trying to bring the Lord’s wrath upon me."
Dr. Ahil burst into a loud, mocking laughter. "Oh please, you're already a lost cause. A classic hypocrite."
The word lost cause struck a deep, painful nerve—
2. Executive Summary
This text constitutes the opening chapters of a contemporary Hausa Islamic/morality web-novel set within the campus environment of Ahmadu Bello University (A.B.U.), Zaria.
- The Forbidden Affair: The story centers on Husnah Habib Manga, a brilliant final-year medical/anatomy student from the village of Narabi. Husnah has compromised her virtue, boundaries, and familial trust by engaging in a secret, highly transactional sexual relationship with her charismatic but predatory lecturer, Dr. Ahil Aliyu Maitama (Dr. A.A.).
- The Betrayal: While Husnah faces continuous academic resistance from other lecturers regarding her final project, Ahil uses his academic power over her to demand sexual favors under the false promise of marriage. The conflict explodes when Husnah discovers that Ahil is actively celebrating his Kamu (wedding introduction) to a wealthy, socially acceptable bride.
- The Campus Confrontation: When Husnah confronts Ahil in his office, he physically assaults her, throws her out into the rain, and threatens her with academic expulsion.
The Ideological Foil: The primary witness to this abuse is Dr. Bature Yohana Chibok (Dr. BYC / Mr. Arrogant), a strict Christian lecturer who serves as Ahil's colleague and moral foil. Dr. Bature rescues the bleeding Husnah, sends her to the clinic, and enters into a fierce theological and moral debate with Ahil, quoting both the Bible and the Quran to condemn Ahil’s hypocrisy and predatory behavior.
3. Structural and Literary Analysis
Character Profiles
CharacterRoleAttributes & Narrative FunctionHusnah Habib MangaProtagonistA brilliant student who carries the academic hopes of her entire village. Her character highlights the theme of absolute regret (danasani) and the vulnerability of female students to systemic academic grooming.Dr. Ahil Aliyu MaitamaAntagonistA handsome, elite gynecologist and lecturer. He is a textbook narcissist who uses his political backing and high social standing to exploit students while maintaining a hypocritical demand for absolute purity in his official bride.Dr. Bature Yohana ChibokMoral CatalystNicknamed "Mr. Arrogant" by students due to his rigid compliance with rules. As a deeply devout Christian in a predominantly Muslim setting, his ability to quote the Quran (Surah An-Nur) alongside the Bible (Matthew and Proverbs) serves to highlight universal morality and expose Ahil's spiritual corruption.Major Themes
- Academic Sexism & Exploitation ("Sex for Grades"): The narrative directly attacks the institutional corruption within higher education where powerful male academics exploit vulnerable female students by exchanging project approvals for physical compliance.
- Religious Hypocrisy vs. True Morality: The text uses a cross-religious dialogue (Christian vs. Muslim) to emphasize that predatory behavior crosses all boundaries. Ahil relies on his elite status, while Bature uses scripture as an objective mirror to show Ahil his impending downfall.
- The Weight of Familial Trust: Husnah’s internal monologue regarding her father's sacrifices and her mother's prayers juxtaposed with her current actions highlights the psychological burden of broken communal trust.
